Dr Wallace grew up in Yackandandah in North East Victoria and attended Wodonga High School. He graduated from the University of Melbourne with Honours in 1995. After a period in general practice, Adrian completed an internship in Small Animal Surgery at the Northern Sydney Veterinary Specialist Centre.
In 2004 he was awarded membership to the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (Small Animal Surgery). In 2005 Adrian gained entry into a residency training program in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Cambridge in the UK. The training program encompassed Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery.
Adrian became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2009 following successful written, oral and practical examinations. Following residency training Adrian worked at the University of Cambridge as a Staff Surgeon in Soft Tissue Surgery then the University of Bristol as a Staff Surgeon in Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery, eventually being promoted to the role of Clinical Lead in Small Animal Surgery at Bristol.
Adrian returned to Australia in 2012 to take up a position as Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Melbourne. Following a two year stint at the University, Adrian has worked in private referral practice in Melbourne at Animal Accident and Emergency and the Centre for Animal Referral and Emergency. Since returning from the UK, Adrian has also performed some consultancy work in Adelaide and China.
Adrian has sixteen publications in the peer reviewed scientific literature and has presented his research at international conferences in Europe and the United States. He is a reviewer for several Veterinary Journals and has provided continuing education courses for referring vets both in the UK and Australia. Adrian is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and is a registered specialist in Small Animal Surgery in Victoria. He is a Member of the British Veterinary Orthopaedic Association, the Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncologists and the Veterinary Interventional Radiology and Interventional Endoscopy Society.
